Io Shirai has returned to NXT after being out for two months.
Appearing on the March 25 episode of NXT, Shirai defeated Aliyah to qualify for the ladder match to crown a new No. 1 contender to the NXT Women’s Championship. Originally, Aliyah was supposed to face Xia Li, but Li was attacked before the match and medically not cleared to wrestle, allowing Shirai to take her place in the match.
Shirai has not wrestled since the January 22 episode of NXT when she faced Toni Storm. Now, Shirai is set to compete in the ladder match, which is taking place on the April 8 episode of NXT.
