This was Perry's first television appearance since AEW All In when he lost to HOOK in an FTW Championship bout.
He got into a backstage altercation with CM Punk at the event and was subsequently suspended for his role in the altercation. Punk's contract was terminated by AEW for his part in the altercation. The altercation came about after Perry said "real glass, cry me a river" to the camera, referencing a previous incident with Punk and him not wanting Perry to use real glass in a segment.
