Jade Cargill Says She Bet On Herself Coming To WWE, Relationship With Cody Rhodes Was A Factor

Jade Cargill is officially in WWE.

On September 26, WWE announced that Jade Cargill had signed a multi-year deal with the promotion. Cargill was one of the top acts in AEW since debuting in March 2021 when she teamed with Shaquille O'Neal to face Cody Rhodes & Red Velvet in her first ever match. During her time in AEW, Cargill became the first-ever AEW TBS Champion, holding the title for over 500 days.

Cargill started at the WWE Performance Center on September 26.

Speaking on The Ringer's Masked Man Show, Cargill discussed her decision to join WWE.

"It feels great. I felt like I was in preparation for the grand stage. I felt like this was always the mission. I felt like the shoe fit. I felt like this was going to happen. Honestly, this was all expected. I'm excited to be here," she said.

When asked about her previous WWE tryout and not joining the company at the time, Cargill said, "One thing I am is a business woman. I think I made the best route at the time. WWE is a great company, but I took what I had and I bet on myself. The outcome, obviously, paid off."

When asked if there was a bidding war or if it was a hard decision to leave AEW, Cargill replied, "I want to create a legacy. I want to be in the Hall of Fame. I want to wrestle with the best women in the world. There is no grander stage than this stage. The opportunities are endless with this company. It was a no brainer. It was very welcoming. I didn't have any second thoughts about it at all. It was an easy choice. It wasn't easy, but it was easy.

Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill have been linked together since Jade's first AEW promo, and she admitted her relationship with Cody was a factor in her decision.

"He was top three, and not third. He is a phenomenal man. I've seen what the business did for him, I've seen him be the stellar athlete that he is. I didn't see any different for myself. He was one of the guys that led me to a great decision," she said.

It is unknown how long Jade will be at the Performance Center and unknown if she will debut in NXT or on the main roster. When asked what the plan was, Jade said, "You're asking way too many questions [laughs]. You tried to slide it in there, but it's not going to happen."

Though Cargill was regularly featured on AEW television and was the first-ever AEW TBS Champion, some fans believed she should have had a bigger role in the company.

When asked if she thought she hit a ceiling in AEW, Cargill replied, "I wouldn't say it's a ceiling. I would just say that the route I wanted to take was different and the route I wanted to embark on was different. I didn't see, over there, where I could fit it. The only way I could do it was coming to the WWE Universe. I bet on myself and I made the best decision coming here."

Cargill said that reps and quality coaching staff is something WWE brings to the table.

Fightful Select first reported that Cargill was finishing up with AEW following the September 13 episode of AEW Dynamite. She wrestled her last match for AEW on the September 15 episode of AEW Rampage.

Fightful will update fans on Cargill's future with the company when more is known.
