The DDT becoming just another move is bittersweet for Jake Roberts.
WWE Hall of Famer Jake "The Snake" Roberts is credited with inventing the DDT. In his prime, the DDT was one of the most effective signature manuevers in wrestling. Over the years, countless wrestlers have started using it, and various of the DDT, rendering it a commonplace move.
Speaking with Steve Fall for WrestlingNewsCo, Roberts was asked what has happened to the DDT, and he noted that it's a waste of a great move, but he benefits from people using it so much.
“It doesn’t please me. I think it’s a waste of a great move. But there’s a lot of great moves that are being wasted today. Not just the DDT. But having said that, I hope to hell they keep using it because every time they use it, it just brings my name back into the situation. That’s a good thing, in the days of everything online, and you get your name said. That’s all you need," Roberts said.
Roberts is back in a featured spot in AEW, as he and Lance Archer have joined forces with The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch). Archer, Vincent, and Dutch lost to Adam Copeland, Sting, and Darby Allin on the November 11 episode of AEW Collision.
Roberts recently joked about dropping Ric Flair with a DDT. Click here to see what he had to say.
Orange Cassidy has stated that Jake Roberts has been helping him in AEW. Check out his comments here.
