Jake Roberts Doesn't Think John Cena Has The 'It Factor'

Jake Roberts says John Cena didn't have that oomph.

John Cena shocked the world when he turned heel at WWE Elimination Chamber. The twist was especially surprising, as Cena is on his farewell tour ahead of his retirement from in-ring competition.

Speaking on The Snake Pit podcast, Jake Roberts was asked whether he thought it was the right time for Cena to turn heel.

“Yeah, absolutely. Sure, why not? It’s time for it for a couple reasons. Number one, Cody’s your top babyface now. So you gotta get those other guys out of there, so he’s the only one. To turn him heel, he’s gonna wind up putting Cody over, which is what they want," Roberts said.

Roberts was also asked whether he thought Cena had the "it" factor, and he said that he didn't think he did. Roberts noted that it was nothing personal, but in his opinion, Cena doesn't have the magic in him. He stated that Cena had to work hard to get to where he is.

“I don’t think he did. I don’t feel it. Nothing personal. But I just always struggle with him. He just doesn’t have that magic in him, man. His interviews are okay, and his work was good, very good. But he didn’t have that oomph. He had to work really hard," Roberts said.
