According to new court filings (via POST Wrestling, Janel Grant's attorneys indicated that Grant plans to modify her lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis. The amended complaint is expected to be filed on January 15, 2025.
The specific changes in the amendment are unclear.
Under federal court rules, Grant is allowed to amend her complaint once without permission from the court.
In January 2024, Grant, a former WWE employee, filed a lawsuit against McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitus with accusations of sexual assault and sex trafficking. The lawsuit alleges that she signed a NDA with a payment of $3 million, but McMahon stopped paying after $1 million.
The defendants have filed motions requesting the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut to move the lawsuit to arbitration. The lawsuit was on stay for six months beginning in June 2024 to accommodate a federal investigation by the Southern District of New York. That stay was lifted in December 2024. No charges have been filed, but Grant's attorneys say the investigation remains active.
On Thursday, Grant’s side asked the court for a status conference next week to discuss the schedule.
