JBL comments on how the APA would be received in 2025.
John Bradshaw Layfield and Ron Simmons were staple performers of the WWE Attitude Era as the APA. The APA was not only hard-hitting in the ring but also featured in many backstage segments playing poker, drinking beer, and filling out the shows with fun segments.
Speaking on the most recent episode of the Something to Wrestle podcast, JBL argued that the gimmick would have worked in modern wrestling as well. They would have taken advantage of social media's extra exposure to have more fun segments and allow today's performers to showcase their natural personalities.
"I think [it would have worked] very well. Of course, it's impossible for me to be unbiased with this because it's me and Ron," he said. "I think if you're talking about the APA, and not necessarily the Acolytes, the guys that come down and just try to kill people, I think it'd be very well-received because we do so much stuff backstage. We'd have so much — there's some of these stars are really entertaining people. Look at their social media [and] what they do. We could have a lot of fun.
"Oh my God. We could have so much freaking fun. The bar fight scenes. The bar drinking that we did. The stuff we did backstage. We would have a blast on social media."
