John Bradshaw Layfield comments on Corey Graves' recent social media posts and offers his opinion on Corey's commentary.
On Monday, January 13, Corey Graves wrote on social media, "Imagine chasing your dream. Then being TOLD (not deciding) that you’re no longer physically able to pursue your dream. Then you dedicate your life to something “dream adjacent” and being pretty fucking awesome at it. And then, when it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, being told you’re not famous enough for your own job. Just in case you’ve wondered where I’ve been."
Corey Graves then said that he would have a lot to say on the January 14 NXT. While his move was never specified as a permanent one, it appeared that he had been added to the NXT commentary booth following his appearance on commentary for NXT New Year's Evil. Graves was ultimately not on NXT on January 14.
Following the move to Netflix for WWE Monday Night Raw, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee are on the call for the Monday show while Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett provide commentary over WWE SmackDown.
Speaking on the most recent episode of Something to Wrestle, John Bradshaw Layfield commented on Corey's social media post and his current situation. Bradshaw was empathetic towards Graves' plight, saying that he hopes WWE finds room for all of their color commentators.
"I can understand. There's only three commentary spots unless you have two color commentators on a certain show like you've had before, with a three-man booth, there's only three color commentator spots. So you've got to move guys around, and that happens. I can certainly understand Corey's angst in this. I know only what was read, and certainly, text does not denote tone, so you don't know what tone this was written in. I think Corey has done an incredible job. I think Corey is an incredible commentator. I think Pat McAfee is, too. I think, look, Pat adds so much to WWE. It's wonderful that he comes in, and it's wonderful he has this huge following. He does such an incredible job. They're completely different. To me, I think there's room for both, and I certainly hope they find room for both."
