JD McDonagh comments on the end of his time in NXT and his move to WWE Raw.

McDonagh, then known as Jordan Devlin, first started wrestling for WWE in 2016, as he competed in the United Kingdom Championship Tournament. He went on to have a successful run in NXT UK, and he won the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. Devlin then moved to NXT in 2022 and was renamed JD McDonagh. During his time on the main NXT brand, he feuded with stars like Bron Breakker and Ilja Dragunov.

During the 2023 WWE Draft, McDonagh was selected by WWE Raw. In his final match on NXT, McDonagh defeated Dragon Lee in a singles match on the May 2 episode of the show.

In a WWE Digital Exclusive, McDonagh commented on his final night on NXT and looked ahead to his move to WWE Raw.

"That’s a wrap. It’s funny, like a dam breaking a suppose. You’re pushing and you’re pushing and you pushing, and you feel something building for your whole life. I’ve been in this 21 years now, and 15 or 16, I felt like I was spinning my wheels, I might never make it. But all of a sudden, things happen, it all just clicks. Coming here to NXT, getting to be in the ring every single week with the best young wrestlers, bar none, it helped unlock something in me. It helped me finally get to the next level. I can’t wait. I can not wait for the next chapter. It feels I’ve been walking forever, and I’ve reached the mountain top. I’ve got to keep on pushing the goalposts back. I’m gonna ride this thing til the wheels fall off. I absolutely love this. I love NXT. I loved my time here, love testing myself, and now the next step, Monday Night Raw, Monday Night McDonagh," McDonagh said.
