Jeff Cobb clears the air.
Jeff Cobb successfully defended the NJPW World Television Championship at NJPW Dominion, as he defeated Tomohiro Ishii. In his post-match comments, Cobb issued an open challenge, leading many to think that he would be competing at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
Cobb then took to social media to clarify that he currently does not have a match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, and this was not a way to pressure anyone into making a match. He noted that he was willing to go the route of "our sister company" and let any non-deserving person get a shot at the title. Cobb wrote that, as of his post, nobody had stepped up.
He stated that if he was there, he would fight, but if not, he would happily enjoy a day at the beach.
Let me be VERY clear. I currently do not have a match at Forbidden Door, nor is this a way to pressure anyone into making a match. I am willing to go the route of our sister company and just let any non deserving person a shot at this championship. As of now, no one has stepped… pic.twitter.com/nfyqwJ3MbN
