Jeff Hardy Against Randy Orton Added To WWE Hell In A Cell

Jeff Hardy is going to hell. And he plans to take Randy Orton with him.

On SmackDown, Hardy laid down the challenge to Orton to meet him inside Hell in a Cell at the annual Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on Sept. 16. Orton didn't initially accept the challenge, instead dropping the microphone in silence, but the bout was made official later on in the evening.

The heated rivalry between Orton and Hardy started at Backlash when the two met for the United States Title. Hardy retained the belt on that night and Orton went on the shelf to repair a medial meniscus tear in his left knee.

Orton returned at Extreme Rules, setting his sights on Hardy. Following Hardy's US Title loss to Shinsuke Nakamura, Orton added insult to injury, stomping on Hardy's groin. The following Tuesday on SmackDown, Orton pulled one of the most disgusting acts in WWE history, stretching the ear gauge of Hardy.

Hardy extracted a measure of revenge last week on SmackDown, sending Orton through a table with a swanton bomb.

Hell in a Cell takes place on Sept. 16 from San Antonio, Texas. Fightful will provide complete coverage of the event.
