WWE ran a "This Is Your Life" segment on Raw this past Monday, with Alexa Bliss making fun of Bayley's past (and ostensible present) as a wrestling fangirl.
It was awful. The writing was so bad, and Bliss so unable to make the terrible material work, that the WWE actually edited the entire skit out of the YouTube video for that segment.
Now Jerry Lawler has weighed in. Speaking on his podcast, "Dinner With The King," Lawler said that the segment is one of those terrible pieces of work that you've just got to put in your rearview mirror and move on from--otherwise, it will just continue to haunt you.
“Sometimes things happen that just don’t turn out like you envision it. I’m sure that’s exactly what happened there," Lawler began. "Here’s the other thing: it’s live T.V. That’s a double-edged sword, believe me. When something doesn’t turn out the way you planned it, there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s there. It was live and everybody saw it. That was just one of those cases. You just gotta move on.”
Right about the time that Phil, Bayley's supposed high school boyfriend, kissed Tracey, Bayley's supposed childhood best friend, Booker T said on commentary: "This is hard to watch."
Lawler said he wouldn't be surprised if that was actually Vince McMahon in Booker's ear.
“You know what, that could have well have been a Vince line. I’m not sure because I wasn’t there. But either way, that was the right thing to say. It was probably conveying the thoughts of everybody watching it.”
