John Cena's retirement run is starting soon.
John Cena made a surprise appearance at WWE Money in the Bank on July 6 and stated that he was there to officially announce his retirement.
Cena said that WWE was the hottest ticket in town. He also looked back on enduring hardship, when only the most hardcore fans stood by your side.

Cena credited Canadians for always showing up, whether WWE was hot or cold. He said that Toronto was the perfect place to say what he had to say. Cena noted that Money in the Bank was the perfect place for this farewell, as it was the symbol of opportunity. He brought up Raw moving to Netflix and said he would be there. Cena stated that the 2025 Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber would be his last.
Cena said that he would compete at WWE WrestleMania 41, and that would be his last match. He then thanked the fans. Cena thanked the fans for letting him play in the house that they built and for allowing him to be there with them tonight. He then said that he would return to Toronto to kick some ass. Cena made it clear that anyone who wanted some should come get some,=.

Cena debuted on WWE SmackDown in 2022. He went on to win the world title 16 times, and he was the face of the company for several years. Cena transitioned to a part-time schedule later in his career as he started venturing into Hollywood. He returned for WrestleMania 36 and came back for prominent runs in 2021 and 2023.
Before his appearance at WWE Money in the Bank, Cena last appeared live on WWE programming when he lost to Solo Sikoa at WWE Crown Jewel 2023. He appeared in a taped video on the "Best Of" edition of SmackDown in December 2023.
