John Cena Clarifies 'It Might Be The Last Time' Tweet

John Cena returned to WWE Raw on March 6 in Boston, looking emotional as he made his entrance. Cena soaked in the reaction from the crowd, gave a shoutout to longtime WWE cameraman Stu, who had the day off, and then made his way down to the ring.

The following day, Cena tweeted, "Last night was the first time I entered the arena and had the thought that it might be the last time. I’ll never be able to put into words how much I love the #WWEUniverse."

On the March 6 episode of WWE Raw, Cena accepted Austin Theory's challenge for WrestleMania 39, and will make the journey to the ring at least one more time.

Speaking to AP News, Cena clarified what he meant when he said he thought Raw might be the last time.

"I tried to put it in words in Twitter. I guess I didn’t explain myself correctly. It was the first time I came out into the arena knowing that this has a definitive end. Normally, you come out, you get all excited, OK, this is the next one and I’m waiting for the next one. I’m not done, of course. I made that statement accepting a match at WrestleMania so I know I have at least one more in front of me. But what I was trying to convey was, that was the first time I looked at all that excitement and energy and realized this is the twilight of that journey," he said.

Cena made his WWE debut in 2002 and has wrestled at least one televised match every year since his debut.
