John Cena explains his Twitter practices.
Fans may notice that John Cena follows everyone on Twitter. He may even follow you. Cena's Twitter is often filled with words of wisdom, or more recently, promoting his OnlyFans.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Cena explained why he tweets the way he tweets.
"I try to seek wisdom from others. I try to read a lot. If anything catches my ear or eye, I jot it down. I have so many backlogged in my Twitter drafts, it's almost like a journal. It's not like every day I have one, but there will be some days where I'm thinking about stuff and I'll write down a bunch of notes. Essentially, my Twitter drafts are my notes, and I'll have these incomplete thoughts that don't make any sense and I try to understand what I'm thinking that day, and I'll come back to it and it'll come to me. 'Yeah, that's how I'm feeling.' A lot of it is the advice I could use for the day. If I was too short or not empathetic, or having a hell of a day and I want to give up and throw the towel in, a lot of it is advice I could use and a lot of it is me holding myself accountable for what I say that I do. Once you put it out to the world, X probably isn't the best example of accountability, but I like to put it out there so I can be accountable," he said.
Asked why he follows so many people on Twitter and follows no one on Instagram, Cena replied, "For the simple fact that, because Instagram is an interpretive exercise, I don't want to lead the witness by following. If I follow Bill Gates, he's curating the experience for me, and I may feel a certain way about Bill Gates, so I feel a certain way about these images. Twitter is a conversation starter. How do you start a conversation? Follow everyone. People you know nothing about, walks of life you know nothing about, people that don't share your views, people who speak out harshly against your value system, people who live within your value system, people who have pissed you off. Follow everyone because then people can engage with 'I was thinking this today.' Go for it."
CVV noted that Cena might make people's day when they see Cena now follows them.
"There is a little shred of gravity in that. I love the little verified thing. It's just a blue check mark, but you have to come out of pocket to prove you're the person. It's not foolproof, but if you have a blue check mark, that's a go-to, and I want you in on the conversation, and I want to know that I see and hear you. It might be because we don't agree and I need to have your perspective. If you get yourself around 'yes men' and like-minded folks, you don't learn anything. I want everyone's opinion on what I'm putting out there because maybe I'm full of my own shit and it's stupid. If you hear that message enough, I have to challenge myself. 'John Cena sucks.' Should I turn heel? Not yet. It's a sounding board. Because of my experience in front of a live audience, I enjoy the sounding board," said Cena.
