Why was there so much chatter about the upcoming WWE match in such a short time? John Cena, who has been a babyface (good guy) his entire career, finally turned "heel" (bad guy) for the first time in 22 years. This shocked a lot of WWE fans (and sports fans in general) as the news transcended professional wrestling, being discussed on talk shows, and other entertainment outlets.
Cena has been the family friendly good guy for over two decades. He holds the record for the most "Make-a-Wish" wishes granted. He is the perennial hero. So it is definitely newsworthy that in the final year of his pro wrestling career (he will retire after 2025) that he is choosing this route. It also makes the storyline for WrestleMania 41 much, much more interesting.
On top of this, Cena is on the cusp of winning his 17th world title, which would beat the record of 16 that Ric Flair holds. And Flair is not happy!
All of this combined has most WWE fans convinced that John Cena will win his 17th at WrestleMania, defeating the current champion Cody Rhodes.
