Cena is excited for his good friend.
Daniel Bryan being cleared to return to in-ring competition was one of the biggest stories in wrestling heading into and coming out of his return match at WrestleMania 34. Bryan has since gotten back into the swing of things as he is now a full-time in-ring performer once again. This Sunday at 'Extreme Rules' Bryan and "The Big Red Machine" Kane will be challenging The Bludgeon Brothers for their SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships.
It brings joy to many of people's faces to see Bryan doing what he loves--one of those being former 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena. John Cena has had an on-screen World Championship rivalry with Daniel Bryan, the two have their kin connection via Daniel Bryan being married to Brie Bella and John having a relationship with Nikki Bella. But speaking from a number of different perspectives, John Cena gave his take on Daniel Bryan's return to the squared circle while speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated.
“Speaking from a co-worker’s standpoint, it’s great to have him back because he is very good at what he does,” said Cena. “Speaking from a company-standpoint, it is great to have him back because he is very good at what he does and audiences will show up to see him. Speaking from a personal standpoint on what I know about Bryan Danielson, I know that he is dedicated to wrestling and loves wrestling. He was so heartbroken when it was taken away from him before it was his decision to give it up. I can’t tell you how happy I am for him to go out there again and live his dream. He gives wrestling his all, and it’s great that he now has the outlet again where it can give something back to him.”
Daniel Bryan and Kane are not the only challengers looking to capture championship gold this Sunday. Head over to Fightful's "events" section to take a look at the lineup for 'Extreme Rules'.
