John Cena Set To Appear On 9/1 WWE SmackDown

John Cena's return has been announced.

As reported by Ryan Satin of FOX Sports, Cena is set to appear on the September 1 episode of WWE SmackDown. The show will be held at The Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It's currently unclear whether Cena will wrestle on the show. Likewise, there is no word on how long his return will last.

Satin also wrote that Cena will head to India for the WWE Superstar Spectacle show at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium on September 8. The event will not be televised in the United States, but it will mark WWE's first live event in India since 2017. Cena later announced that he will be wrestling at the show.

WWE then confirmed the news on social media.

Cena last wrestled at WWE WrestleMania 39, where he lost to WWE United States Champion Austin Theory. He appeared at WWE Money in the Bank and hyped up the crowd before he gained the upper hand in a brief brawl with Grayson Waller. Cena also popped up in a video message for Edge on the August 18 episode of WWE SmackDown.
