John Cena could be out of this week's WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
WWE issued an alert and a video on Cena, saying that the 16-time world champion injured his ankle during the fatal-four-way main event of last week's episode of WWE Raw. Cena was said to have aggravated the injury further today while working out.
Fightful is told that the "injury" is to help further an angle between he and Drew McIntyre.

Cena is currently scheduled to participate in the 30-man WWE Royal Rumble match, which hasn't happened too often for him in recent years. Since winning the Rumble match in 2013, Cena has only appeared in one more, which was last year's event that saw him last almost a half hour and eliminate Elias, Finn Balor and The Hurricane before being tossed out at number 28.
Cena went from barely wrestling after spring of 2018 to working 13 matches over the last four weeks. Fightful will keep you updated on any advancements.
WWE Royal Rumble takes place January 27 from Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Fightful will have full, live coverage of the show and a post-show podcast.
