John Morrison Believes WWE Will End Up Letting Guys Go With Merger, Is Glad AEW Is Around

On April 3, WWE announced a transaction agreement with Endeavor to sell the company and enter into a merger with UFC by the end of the year.

With most mergers, cuts will be made to save costs and incorporate "brand synergy." WWE President Nick Khan commented on brand synergy, saying leaving the product untouched is the most important part.

Appearing on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, John Morrison weighed in on potential cost cuts.

"I think there's a hiring freeze right now. I think they're going to end up letting a bunch of guys go. I think salaries are going to get cut. I'm really glad AEW is around to balance that out a little bit, because if they weren't, there would be no leverage, and nowhere else to go, and WWE and UFC would be this weird monopoly that just wrings the money out of the livelihood of the fighters and wrestlers and I always think that sucks," he said.

Morrison is currently a free agent and active on the independent scene. His wife, Taya Valkyrie, is signed to AEW.

Morrison scored a KO victory over Epic Meal Time's Harley Morenstein at Creator Clash 2 and then called out KSI.
