At AEW All Out, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and PAC made the shocking decision to turn on Bryan Danielson after his AEW Championship defense against Jack Perry. After Claudio Castagnoli sent him to the mat with a uppercut, Danielson was strangled by Moxley with a plastic bag.
The September 11 edition of AEW Dynamite opened with a video package from Moxley. Moxley started the promo by stating that he'd like nothing more than to be still standing side-by-side with Bryan Danielson. Moxley then criticized Danielson for not having the stomach for this. After recapping the mission statement of thr Blackpool Combat Club, Moxley also criticized Danielson for having patience and kindness.
Moxley then went on to rant about the current state of AEW, saying that he looks around and sees out of control egos everywhere he looks. After talking about how Danielson is William Regal's favorite, Moxley stated that he's not a villain or a hero. Moxley then proclaimed that god put him on earth to be the one true king of these lands.
Moxley went on to say that the group tried doing things Danielson's way but failed in the process. The promo ended after Moxley stated that he chooses war.
