Jon Moxley is looking forward to his return to Japan.
Moxley, a former IWGP United States Champion, will wrestle in Japan for the first time since 2020 at NJPW Dominion on June 4. Moxley has competed at NJPW shows in the United States since then, and he will be in action at NJPW Resurgence in Long Beach, California, on May 21.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Moxley shared his thoughts on his upcoming return to Japan and expressed his excitement.
“I’m really stoked about going back to Japan. Now I don’t have to worry about going back and forth between New Japan and AEW. The working relationship is really good, and that makes it easy for me. I still work for New Japan Strong in the U.S., but it’s not the same as being over there in Japan. It’s been so long. I need it. There are still a lot of big matchups. I’m really excited about it," Moxley said.
Moxley also commented on his match at NJPW Resurgence, where he'll team up with Wheeler Yuta and Shota Umino to face Kazuchika Okada, Rocky Romero, and Tomohiro Ishii. He made it clear that he wants to wrestle the best competitors and push himself.
“Okada, Ishii, I’m here to wrestle the best guys,” says Moxley. “I’m here to push myself. I want to help the young guys, pushing them to be the best. Getting back to Japan and mixing it up over there, it makes me better," Moxley said.
Moxley and the rest of Blackpool Combat Club will face The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, and Hangman Page) in an Anarchy in the Arena Match at AEW Double or Nothing. Check out the card here.
