Josh Alexander is back and determined to reclaim the crown he never lost.
Alex Shelley defeated Nick Aldis to retain the IMPACT World Championship in the main event of IMPACT Wrestling's Slammiversary pay-per-view. However, almost immediately overshadowing the result of the headlining bout, Josh Alexander returned to the IMPACT Zone and confronted Shelley.
Alexander would grab a microphone and inform the current IMPACT World Champion that he is officially back from injury.

This was Alexander's first appearance in IMPACT after being forced to relinquish the IMPACT World Championship due to an injury. Alexander was sidelined with a torn triceps injury initially revealed on Busted Open Radio on March 24. He would later appear to officially relinquish the championship on the April 6 episode of IMPACT Wrestling on AXS, never getting to finish his feud with Steve Maclin.
Instead, Maclin went on to defeat KUSHIDA for the vacant World Title at IMPACT Rebellion. Maclin would be defeated for the World Title by Alex Shelley at IMPACT Against All Odds and continues to be championed to this day.
