Kazuchika Okada Named 2019 Tokyo Sports MVP

For the fourth time in his career, Kazuchika Okada has been named the 2019 MVP by Tokyo Sports. Okada previously won the award in 2012, 2013, and 2015.

Okada beat out Kota Ibushi, Will Ospreay, Jay White and Kento Miyahara for the award. 15 of the 22 judges voted for Okada.

The award was won by Kenny Omega last year. Okada is now tied with Keiji Muto and Hiroshi Tanahashi with four MVP awards. Antonio Inoki has won the award six times.

Okada captured the IWGP Heavyweight Championship from Jay White on April 6 at ROH-NJPW G1 Supercard. He's made four successful title defenses during his current run and is scheduled to defend the title against Kota Ibushi in the main event on night one of Wrestle Kingdom 14.

Okada also won Best Bout by the publication for his King of Pro Wrestling showdown against SANADA.
