Omega wrestled in DDT from 2008 to 2014 and it was there where it his long-running friendship with Kota Ibushi started. Together, they won the KO-D Tag Team Championship and Omega himself won the DDT Extreme Division and KO-D Openweight Championships. He would then go on to wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling for years, winning the 2017 G1 Climax and the IWGP Heavyweight title before moving on to sign with AEW.
