Kevin Owens comments on the Motor City Machine Guns finally making it to WWE.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, the Motor City Machine Guns, are true journeyman wrestlers who revolutionized tag team wrestling in TNA and Ring of Honor. In 2024, they finally made it to WWE and captured the WWE Tag Team Championship in only three matches with the company.
Kevin Owens, someone who was also once seen as an individual who would "never make it to WWE," recently commented on Sabin and Shelley's WWE arrivals during an interview with Yahoo! Sports. For Owens, none of their success surprises him but he is happy to see that so many of his generation have finally made it to WWE.
"I'm not surprised at any of the guys' success. Even though I will say the Machine Guns joining WWE recently was really surreal," Owens says, "because it's almost like we all made it. Many of us from that time all got to the mainstream wrestling level or whatever, but the Guns, the Machine Guns, they had done TNA, but they never got to WWE. I guess you assume after a while, it's not going to happen. Not because they weren't good enough. Obviously, they've always been top talent in the wrestling world. But I don't know, for some reason, sometimes it's not in the cards or timing, stuff like that. For them to finally end up here, it was pretty crazy.
"Yet when I see them at SmackDown, it's like, 'Oh yeah, of course those guys are here.' It's like they've always been here because they probably should have always been here."
Unfortunately for them, Sabin and Shelley recently lost the WWE Tag Team Championship to #DIY's Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa.
Kevin Owens, on the other hand, broke out one of his old moves, the Package Piledriver after losing to Cody Rhodes at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. This also resulted in him getting into a confrontation with Triple H. Learn more here.
