Kevin Owens: John Cena's Last Text Message To Me Was 'I LOVE WRESTLING' At 1 AM

Kevin Owens and John Cena have a long history in WWE as Owens' first segment and match on the main roster was with Cena in 2015.

In 2022, the two men will close out the year by teaming together against Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn on the December 30 episode of WWE SmackDown. On television, Owens contacted Cena to let him know he had wrestled a match every year since his debut in 2002, but hadn't wrestled in 2022. With time running out on the year, Cena agreed to team with Owens for the tag bout.

Speaking to Peter Rosenberg on Cheap Heat, Owens was asked how often he actually texts with Cena.

"We text here and there. The text messages...I'm not going to say that I actually use the emojis that he described, but it's a lot like that. We talk about some silly stuff. 'Remember when we had this match and this happened,' stuff like that. We haven't really discussed the upcoming SmackDown just yet. He's very excited. The last text I got from him was, 'I LOVE WRESTLING' in all caps. Unprompted. I don't know what he was doing. No idea. I think it was 1 AM. I don't know where he was in the world," said Owens.

Cena's last televised match took place at WWE SummerSlam 2021 when he lost to Reigns.

Fightful will have live coverage of WWE SmackDown beginning at 8 p.m. ET on December 30.
