Kevin Owens believes it's about time that Sami Zayn captured the Intercontinental title.
At the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Zayn pinned Braun Strowman in a 3 vs. 1 handicap match to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time. Afterwards, Owens, a former Intercontinental Champion himself, went to Twitter to talk about how proud he is of his friend becoming the new champion.
You can complain all you want about how he won it or his attitude but Sami being Intercontinental Champion is long overdue.

The fact that he won it after growing hair that rivals Wayne Gretzky’s in his heyday makes it worth the wait though.
I’m very proud of you, @SamiZayn. pic.twitter.com/4scJSRSYP9
This is Zayn's first title win ever since he held the NXT Championship from 2014 to 2015. Strowman had held the title for a little more than a month after beating Shinsuke Nakamura on an episode of SmackDown. Afterwards, a rematch was initially set for Elimination Chamber, but at the contract signing, the match was turned into a handicap match with Zayn teaming up with Nakamura and Cesaro after Strowman said he was prepared to face all three of them, then signed the contract.
