Kevin Owens Says Change In Direction Made A Lot Of Noise Outside Of WWE And Turned Eyes Towards Them

WWE underwent a big change in January when Vince McMahon resigned as a TKO/WWE executive after a lawsuit was filed by former employee Janel Grant, accusing him of sexual assault and sex trafficking.

With McMahon fully out of the picture, WWE took on a new creative direction under Triple H and new executive producer Lee Fitting, who effectively replaced Kevin Dunn. Dunn stepped down at the end of 2023.

Speaking to Chris McPherson of Collider, Kevin Owens credited the talent and the creative shift as to why WWE has gained popularity over the past year.

“It’s just really about how hard everyone’s worked for so long, and eventually, things kind of lined up right. People started paying attention more and realized the show’s pretty great. There are a lot of talented, hardworking guys and girls here, giving it their all every single week," he said. "That change in direction made a lot of noise outside of WWE. I think that probably turned a few eyes toward us. Everybody started watching again and realized, like, hey, this is really good stuff now.”

Owens has been heavily featured on television throughout the year, whether he's been teaming with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes or battling them.

Owens will challenge Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.
