Kid Lykos addresses his upcoming opponent.
During Progress Super Strong Style 16 weekend this year, Kid Lykos would defend his world championship against Mark Haskins in singles action. After securing the victory, Luke Jacobs would raise his hand, before landing a huge clothesline on the world champion. Luke Jacobs would go on to win the Super Strong Style 16 tournament and will face off with Lykos at Progress Chapter 169: The Devil On My Shoulder.
While speaking to Progress ahead of the matchup, Lykos was asked about Jacobs' recent comments that he was holding Progres back as champion.
"I think Luke Jacobs’ claims that I’m holding the company back are a joke. You can see the reaction both in the Electric Ballroom and online when I won the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship. Its clearly bringing eyes to the product and getting people excited which is the most important part of this job. I’m bringing PROGRESS back to the levels before the pandemic with stars like British Strong Style and WALTER. We need stars, we need guys like Mark Haskins… guys that can go and I’m part of that group. To say I’m holding PROGRESS back is a joke. I’ve done everything a World Champion should do – I’ve been beaten down and I’ve got back up. I’ve overcome every obstacle. I embody what a World Champion should be with my traits and Luke knows nothing of that."
As mentioned, Jacobs and Lykos are set for a world title clash this weekend at Progress Chapter 169: The Devil On My Shoulder.
