Kofi Kingston is excited for NXT on USA.
With NXT set to move to USA Network on Sept. 18, everyone in WWE is being asked about the big move, including WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, whose only ties to NXT was coaching Curtis Axel (Michael McGillicutty) on the second season when it was more reality show than wrestling brand. Despite no history with the brand, Kofi still gave his thoughts on the move.
"A lot of people always say, 'people down there in NXT' like it's a farming system for WWE but they've done such a great job over the years making their own brand," Kofi told Fox News. "Often you'll go to a WWE show and fans will be chanting 'NXT.' That's a testament to all the hard work they've put in. Now it's going to pay off, they're actually going to be on USA, which is so exciting. Because the world will get to see all of this talent on this grand stage, as they deserve to be. I'm really excited about that too because there's so much talent down there. People ask me all the time, 'Who do you want to compete against in NXT?' There are so many different stars. There's no one answer. You talk about the Velveteen Dreams, the Adam Coles, you talk about so many different people on the come up. It's a really exciting time to be part of wrestling in general. Kudos to NXT."
Velveteen Dream will be a featured player on the first NXT on USA episode as he will defend his NXT North American Title against Roderick Strong. Meanwhile, Kofi has his own title defense to worry about as he puts the WWE Title on the line against Randy Orton at WWE Clash of Champions.
