In good news, Kofi Kingston says he is rehabbing ahead of schedule following his ankle surgery.
Kingston had ankle surgery on March 17. He was injured during a confrontation with Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, LA Knight, and Karrion Kross on the March 3 edition of WWE SmackDown.
During a recent appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Kingston provided an update on his road to recovery,
"I'm actually in Orlando right now doing some Rehab on my ankle. I had ankle surgery to remove a bone chip and fix a ligament after the mass of Scottish Behemoth of a man, Drew McIntyre, landed on my leg. My body went east, my leg went west, and my ankle was completely sprained," recalled Kingston. "They took out some bone chips and fixed the ligament, and now I'm on the mend, somewhere in between a robot and a zombie. I'm working my way back to the fold. So, it's all good. Life is grand."
When further discussing his recovery, Kingston revealed that he is currently in Orlando trying to get to the next level and see if he can do "WWE Superstar things" again.
"It will be 12 weeks on Friday, 12 weeks post-op. I'm doing really well," Kofi added. "I actually had the same surgery on the same ankle about six years ago to have some bone chips removed. I feel like this time around, I know what to expect, and I've been ahead of schedule for the most part. I'm really able to do a lot of normal people things and live a normal life. So now it's just a matter of trying to go to the next level and do WWE Superstar things. You know what I mean, in-ring things like that. So I've been in Orlando for the past week, just kind of seeing where I'm at, and things are looking pretty good. So hopefully, sooner than later, you'll see me in the ring."
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were drafted to Monday Night Raw as part of the 2023 WWE Draft. Kingston is currently being advertised for WWE's upcoming tour of Germany in October.
Big E was not drafted as part of The New Day because he has been out of action for over a year due to a broken neck.
