Kofi Kingston Says He's Sidelined For At Least Six Weeks

Kofi Kingston won't be wrestling for quite some time.

On tonight's episode of SmackDown, Kingston revealed that he's going to be out of action for six weeks due to injuries suffered in the tables match for the SmackDown Tag Team titles at Extreme Rules. Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro defeated Kingston and Big E to win the titles.

However, with this piece of news comes a new opportunity for Big E. Kingston said since he and fellow New Day member Xavier Woods are out with injuries, this opens up the door for Big E to have a singles run in the meantime. Although the last few years have been filled with tag team title reigns for Big E, he did have a singles career before forming The New Day, even winning the Intercontinental Championship at some point.

Back in June, Woods appeared on The Bump to talk about his recovery for a torn Achilles that he suffered last year. Woods said he isn’t sure when he’ll return to the ring, but did say he is feeling well and is able to do some movement.
