Kris Statlander will challenge Riho for the AEW Women's Championship on the Jan. 1 AEW Dynamite.
Statlander earned the title shot by defeating Britt Baker in a number one contenders match on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite. After a competitive bout between the two ladies, Statlander was able to put Baker away with the Big Bang Theory. Statlander and Riho are both undefeated in AEW singles competition.

After Statlander's victory, Brandi Rhodes came out to congratulate the new number one contender and ask for an answer. Brandi previously asked Statlander to join the Nightmare Collective. Statlander turned down Brandi's offer, and for her troubles, received a heel to the eye courtesy of Brandi.
