Kris Statlander says "they" are trying to keep her down.
Former AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander has not had a title match in recent months. She has earned a shot at the CMLL World Women's Championship, but CMLL would not sanction her Street Fight against reigning champion Willow Nightingale. Statlander previously competed in the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament, and she was in a Number One Contender's Match for the TBS Championship in March.
Speaking on 97.3 The Game Milwaukee, Statlander was asked whether she was getting "shafted" regarding her lack of title shots.
“I think that they are just afraid because they know how powerful I am, that they know that they’ve run out of belts for me to hold because I’d just win them all, and they’re just trying to keep me down. But they all know who the true champion is," Statlander said.
Later in the interview, Statlander was asked to name her goals and dreams in AEW, and she noted that she aimed to regain the AEW TBS Championship and eventually win the AEW Women's World Championship.
“A dream would be probably to win the TBS Title back, maybe to win the AEW Women’s World Championship. Maybe have them both at the same time. Also just continue to be the best wrestler that I can be, and to be someone that gives everyone their best matches," Statlander said.
