Kurt Angle says some big names are being considered.
In November, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle said that Eshom Nelms and Ian Nelms would be directing a pair of movies about his life. The films will highlight Angle's journey in the Olympics and his professional wrestling career.
Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Kurt Angle discussed working on the movies.
“I dove into this movie that I’m having done about my life’s sports story. The directors are [names]. They’re really talented directors. The reason why I picked them is because they were wrestlers in high school and college, so they understand my sport. So we got the ball rolling with that, and now we’re getting investors, and we’re gonna start picking the cast soon. This movie’s only about my Olympics story, not my WWE story. There’re gonna be actually two movies, ‘Angle 1’ and ‘Angle 2’. One is for the Olympics, and the other one’s after, my WWE and TNA career, everything after that. It was just too much to put in one movie," Angle said.
Angle went on to discuss the potential cast, and he said that they had Michael Keaton in mind for John du Pont. He also stated that his nephew, Jon Bernthal, would play his father. When asked who would play him, he said they had Gabriel LaBelle in mind.
“We have in mind Michael Keaton to play John du Pont. Jon Bernthal, my nephew, is gonna play my father, which will be really cool. [Asked who will play him.] Right now, it’s a Canadian kid, believe it or not, Gabe LaBelle, we’ve been pushing that. He did the ‘Saturday Night’ movie. He did a lot of movies with Jon Bernthal. He’s a really popular upcoming actor. The thing is, he needs to put a little more size on his body, but I don’t think that’ll be a problem for him," Angle said.
Angle later said that the directors were planning on filming in late spring of 2025, and they were currently looking for investors. He also stated that they would pick the cast soon.
Fightful will provide more information about the movies as it becomes available.
