Kyle Fletcher: Back In The Day, The Undertaker Character Worked. I Don't Think It Works Quite As Well Today

Kyle Fletcher showed his true self on AEW TV when he shaved his head and switched to trunks, attempting to break comparisons from Will Ospreay.

Appearing on SENQ Breakfast, Fletcher was discussing what got him into wrestling when it was mentioned by the co-hosts that Fletcher uses his real name. The co-host then wondered about characters from the past like Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker.

"In today's day and age in pro wrestling, it's a lot more based in reality. The characters you see on TV, part of the thing that makes them so special is a lot people can relate to those characters. They can relate to wanting to punch their boss in the face or those kinds of things as opposed to a supernatural character like the Undertaker. It's very much contextual-based. Back in the day, The Undertaker worked and became one of the biggest characters of all-time. I don't think it works quite as well in this day and age," said Fletcher.

Many wrestlers have said that the best characters are when a wrestler is themselves, just turned up to 11.

Fletcher is currently signed to AEW and aligned with Don Callis.
