A former NXT Tag Team Champion is competing in the upcoming Gauntlet Eliminator.
WWE announced that Kyle O'Reilly will be in the match taking place on the September 23 episode of NXT, joining Kushida and Cameron Grimes. The winner of the match will get to challenge Finn Balor for the NXT Championship at the upcoming NXT TakeOver show on October 4. Two names are left to be revealed for the match.
The rules for the match are as follows:
- Two men will start in the ring
- Every 4 minutes, another competitor will enter
- The only way to be eliminated is via pinfall or submission
- The last man standing will be named the No. 1 contender for the NXT Championship and will go on to face Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver

It was previously announced that the September 23 episode of NXT will feature a Battle Royal with the winner challenging for Io Shirai's NXT Women's Championship at TakeOver.
