LA Knight successfully retained his WWE United States Championship for the first time.
Knight defeated Santos Escobar on August 23 to retain the title on a live WWE Friday Night SmackDown episode. Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo jumped Knight before the match. Still, he managed to rally and hit the BFT for the victory.
After the match, Escobar verbally berated Garza for initiating the attack and was then kicked out from ringside. However, after another verbal confrontation with Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews, Escobar decided to keep his family together for at least one more week.
