The plot thickens.
Trick Williams was attacked backstage on the October 17 episode of WWE NXT, and many fans have predicted that Carmelo Hayes was the perpetrator. Following the week, Carmelo Hayes won a Number One Contender's Match for the NXT Championship. Williams had been set to compete in the bout, so Hayes stood to benefit from Trick getting removed. Carmelo has denied the rumors, but Williams confronted him on the October 31 episode.
Hayes and Williams came face-to-face on the November 6 episode of WWE NXT. The former NXT Champion delivered an emotional message about their friendship, but Williams didn't seem to buy it, as he questioned why Carmelo wasn't there for him. Williams admitted that he didn't see who attacked him, but he still asked Hayes if he did it.

Before Hayes would answer, Lexis King interrupted and stirred the pot by noting that someone new could have been responsible. He said someone with a twisted mind could have been the attacker. Lexis asked Williams if he was sure Hayes attacked him.
King got in Williams' face and frustrated Trick. Williams took a swing at King and accidentally hit King. Trick then helped Hayes up, and they embraced, but Hayes' anger was written all over his face.
When one fan asked Hayes for an explanation, he stated that getting punched in the face never feels good.
Idk, getting punched in the face never feels good
