Becky Lynch and Lita comment on their title win and say it was a surreal night.
On the February 27 episode of WWE Raw, Lita and Lynch challenged Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & IYO Sky) for the WWE Women's Tag Team championship. In the end, Trish Stratus made her return by fending off Bayley and helping Lita and Lynch score the win. The new champions celebrated with Stratus to close the show.
In a Digital Exclusive, Lita and Lynch were asked whether they had Stratus up their sleeve the whole time. Lita noted that she knew how Damage CTRL had been using the numbers game to their advantage, so she called in a friend. Lynch joked that she didn't have many friends, but Stratus noted that they were allies.
Lita: I’ve seen what Bayley has been doing and how the numbers game has caught up to Becky for months on end at this point, so [we] put a plan together, and there was one person on the list.
Becky Lynch: Thankfully, Lita has a friend because I don’t think I have many friends [laughs].
Trish Stratus: Now we’re friends right? I have to prove myself to you or something.
Stratus then noted that she knew Lita and Lynch could "handle" the situation themselves, but she had her eye out for Bayley's tricks. Lynch then emphasized that the win was a surreal moment, as Lita and Stratus changed the game for women's wrestling. Lita chimed in by noting that the full-circle moment was surreal for her, and she wanted to make it extra special by wearing one of the prototypes of her armbands.
BL: For me, this is really surreal because these two women because these two women changed the game for all of us to be able to do what we do, for me to be main-event WrestleMania, it all started with these two being the first two to main-event on Raw. Tonight, the fact that we had both of them here, in the main event of Raw, and so that we were able to walk out as the tag team champions, it means a lot to me. I think 15-year-old me wouldn’t believe this, and I barely can right now.
Lita: it’s feeling really surreal to me. I don’t know if you had one of the Lita arm bands at 15-year-old you, but this was one of the original prototypes that they made the Lita armbands from. So I wore it. It’s a little worse for wear at this point, but it felt appropriate to bring the full-circle moment to this main event on Raw. We called our shot, and this never works. I never call my shot and it works. I call my shot, and they’re like, ‘No.’
Stratus stated that the win was awesome before Lita noted that she and Lynch had to work on handshakes and signals now that they're a genuine team. She told interviewer Cathy Kelly to get back to them next week.
