LJ Cleary praises his partner's ability to be a workhorse in WWE's women's division.
Back in January of this year, Lyra Valkyria would become the first ever Women's Intercontinental Champion, defeating Dakota Kai. Since then, Lyra has strung together several title defenses, and looks to be defending against former WWE Women's Champion Bayley in the near future.
While speaking on the Retro Wrestling Room podcast, Valkyria's fiancé and fellow wrestler LJ Cleary spoke about his pride in Lyra becoming the workhorse champion of WWE's women's division.
"Yeah, unbelievable is the only way to describe it. Obviously, I'm extremely proud. I've been there since her first day of training and then as I became a coach, also helped train her a little. To me, it makes so much sense that she's the first ever women's Intercontinental Champion because to us wrestling fans, the Intercontinental title was always the workhorse title and that's what she is. She's a workhorse. Sometimes I'm not surprised when I'm watching her on Raw. It's certain circumstances. When she wrestled Bayley a few weeks ago, that was one where I was like, wow, you're wrestling Bayley, because we were watching NXT religiously together at the time, Bayley versus Sasha at TakeOver Brooklyn. so that stuff is very surreal, but sometimes I am just like well yeah like i knew this, like, I'm not that surprised because like I knew. So, but that's why i think the Intercontinental Title specifically fits her because she is a workhorse and that's why she's the, that's why she's champion."
Lyra is set to face off with Raquel Rodriguez in her latest title defense of the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship on this Monday's edition of RAW.
