NXT stopping past Barrie, Ontario means more than one would think.
On Sunday, the NXT crew will stop past Barrie, Ontario while on their tour of Canada. The Barrie Molson Centre will host the event and a man who spends a lot time in that Centre is Barrie Wrestling [promotion] referee, Jon Peterson. To many, seeing either RAW or SmackDown would be a fantastic experience all in its own, but Jon Peterson is glad that NXT is coming to town opposed to the main roster brands because he feels that NXT is for the hardcore fan. Peterson had the following to say while speaking with BarrieToday.
“I think the one thing that stands out about NXT from say, RAW or Smackdown Live is the fact that it tends to focus more on the in-ring action rather than being a male soap opera every week,” said Peterson. “With NXT, the superstars really get a chance to show off what they are capable of talent-wise in the ring.”
On tap for tomorrow's NXT live event is a mixed gender tag-team match with Andrade"Cien" Almas & Zelina Vega going up against Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae. A championship match is also scheduled for the Barrie, Ontario fans, as Ember Moon will be defending the NXT Women's Championship against Nikki Cross. Also, NXT's newest superstar, Ricochet, will be in action against NXT standout, Fabian Aichner.
Jon Peterson is excited for the event, but he stated that he is still a bit biased in thinking that Barrie Wrestling is the best wrestling in town, but he'll make an exception for NXT.
“Bringing NXT to Barrie to give the fans an alternative to Barrie Wrestling is fantastic. I may be a bit biased when I say I think we're still the best game in town, but anything that helps get eyes on professional wrestling in general is great for the business and our fans.”
