Lucha Underground is getting ready to move on from season three.
In June, Lucha Underground will be premiering Season 4 on the El Rey Network. It has been a long time since the filming of Season 3 but Season 4 was filmed in February. In an interview with ESPN, executive producer Chris DeJoseph talked about the experience of filming the fourth season considerably faster than the third.
"It was really hard, really stressful. Really hard on everybody. It was a really crazy ride doing it that fast and doing that many (episodes), but we all stuck together, hung in there, and pushed through it. There's a lot of late nights and a lot of hours worked, but in the end I think the show will prove once again Lucha Underground separates itself from anything else that's out there," said DeJoseph.
This season won't be featuring Prince Puma because he has moved on to NXT and DeJoseph said it was big loss but he believes Pentagon Jr is a suitable replacement.
"Pentagon over the past three seasons has become the centerpiece of Lucha Underground. He is probably the most important character on the show. This season will highlight that and show his battles now that he has the Lucha Underground championship and he has the big target on his back now instead of Prince Puma. There's a lot on his shoulders, but I think he'll be able to carry the load with 'cero miedo,'" said DeJoseph.
During the rest of the interview, DeJoseph also spoke about the loss of Rey Mysterio Jr who appeared during Season 3. The fourth season of Lucha Underground premieres June 13th.
Fightful Wrestling will have coverage and results of Lucha Underground.
