Lucha Underground Producer Says Time Between Seasons Builds Anticipation

Chris DeJoseph says fans and talent are able to rest in between Lucha Underground seasons.

It has been since October that a new episode of Lucha Underground aired on the El Rey Network which will change this week with the premiere of season four. In an interview on Ring Rust Radio, Lucha Underground producer Chris DeJoseph discussed the advantages and challenges of doing seasons so far apart.

"The challenges are that you're not on every week. It's not necessarily appointment viewing every week. You're used to watching Raw every Monday or you're used to watching Smackdown every Tuesday or Friday whenever it on," said DeJoseph. "Lucha Underground, it's on Wednesdays when it comes back. It's there for a shorter period of time...I think one of the advantages of not having fifty shows a year is it give a bit of an off season. It gives fans some time to digest. It gives everybody a little break, a little rest. It even gives the audience some time to build some anticipation," he continued.

DeJoseph also mentioned that he does not remember having an anticipatory feeling towards WWE in a long time.

Season four of Lucha Underground premieres Wednesday on the El Rey Network.

Fightful Wrestling will have live coverage for the broadcast of Lucha Underground each week.
