Mariah May says she is being disrespected with her lack of in-ring promos.
AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May has previously highlighted how she does not get to cut many promos in front of the live crowd. She recently had an in-ring segment at AEW Collision: Homecoming, where she had a buzzworthy confrontation with Toni Storm.
Speaking on Casual Conversations with The Classic ahead of AEW Collision Homecoming, May was asked about her upcoming match with Storm at AEW Grand Slam Australia.
“I’m gonna use the next, we got a little bit of time until Australia, so I’m gonna use those weeks to figure out what is going on. But ultimately, I’m flying all the way to Australia to wrestle a rookie. I think that’s a total and utter waste of my time and disrespectful to me as the world champion, but what’s new? All AEW does is disrespect me and keep me backstage when I’m the best person they have on the mic, and I’m stuck backstage. So fine, fly me on a 24-hour flight to Australia to gratify and mentally unwell woman. That’s fine. It’s just another win. What will that be, my eighth successful defense? I’m going on 150 days as of recording this? So fine, fine. Waste of my time, but we’ll do it," May said.
May went on to note that she was a company woman, and she was doing media, but she reiterated that it was disrespectful that she was being kept backstage. She then stated that AEW didn't want her out in front of the crowd because she would outshine Mercedes Mone.
“I’m the most stand-up company woman, that’s why I’m doing the media that they have. It’s disrespectful. But they don’t want me out there because I’m gonna outshine their golden girl, Mercedes. That’s why," May said.
