Mark Andrews was released by WWE in August 2022 as part of NXT UK going on hiatus as the company prepared to launch NXT Europe at some point in 2023.
Andrews had been with the company since 2017 as part of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, and had become a staple on NXT UK TV. He was a former NXT UK Tag Team Champion alongside Flash Morgan Webster.
Andrews was at WWE Money in the Bank, interviewing WWE talent as part of his My Love Letter to Wrestling podcast.
Speaking on the podcast, Andrews was asked how it was being around the WWE and his friends again, but not being in the company.
"I'd be lying if I said that it didn't feel slightly awkward at times. Going back to your old workplace, kind of going in through the backdoor to say hi to everyone and thinking, 'Am I in the way here? This is where I used to work.' In no way do I ever feel like I should be in those spots. Professional wrestling doesn't owe you anything, that's something that I've tried to keep in my head for my whole career. I never feel like I should be on that stage, but it's that I know that I could be. For me, I don't don't doubt my ability and I don't doubt that I could be in those matches and do the amazing things they're doing in those matches. It's just whether the timing is right. It's whether you are what they're looking for. For right now, I'm kind of happy enough just being incredibly proud to see my friends in those positions. They are in those positions, and they were chosen to be in the ladder matches or the championship matches and wrestling in front of 50,000 people," said Andrews.
Andrews has since returned to IMPACT Wrestling.
He is set to team with Flash Morgan Webster at IMPACT Slammiversary as they challenge for the IMPACT Tag Team Titles in a four-way bout. Fans can check out the current lineup for IMPACT Slammiversary by clicking here.
