Mark Andrews: A Lot Of People Should Aspire To Be More Like Joe Hendry With How He Handles His Character

Mark Andrews speaks highly of Joe Hendry.

Joe Hendry has become a breakout star in recent months. His theme song has gone viral, and he has been a key part of the crossover between NXT and TNA. Hendry also challenged for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at TNA Slammiversary. This all comes after Hendry spent years grinding on the independent scene.

Former NXT UK star Mark Andrews recently spoke with Sean Thorne from The Winning Edge Podcast from Casino.org, and he shared his thoughts on Joe Hendry’s success.

“I feel like it takes 10 years of hard work to become an overnight success. That's the perfect saying to Joe Hendry, because it's not like this guy has only just released his entrance music and only just got on over. He's been plowing away at this for years and years and years, doing a very similar shtick but getting better and better at it as he goes along. With Joe, it's just been a matter of time. He's a very, very funny man. He's very clued up with wrestling, and I think he knows what his place is in wrestling as well. I don't think he's there necessarily to steal the show in the 16-minute epic Ironman match, or even to necessarily be the main event, but he's there to entertain everyone, and he does a hell of a job doing it," Andrews said.

Andrews also highlighted Hendry's branding and the way his “I Believe in Joe Hendry” song has become so popular. He noted that Hendry had "smashed" it, as it was a catchy song. Andrews went on to share his belief that Hendry is quite unique in the wrestling world, and more people should aspire to be like him.

"He's so good with his branding and his consistency and at times I've been annoyed waking up in the morning with his song stuck in my head, like, 'Why is it there?' persuading myself it's not even a good song. It's not even a good song! Then I just start singing it. I'm like, Ah, that is pretty catchy. So I think he's absolutely smashed it, to be honest. I think Joe is someone who has something which 99% of the rest of wrestling doesn't have, and a lot of people should aspire to be more like him in a lot of ways, or at least how he handles his character and his business in pro wrestling. He's a very smart man,” Andrews said.

Hendry recently teased staying "a lot longer" in NXT. More information is available here.
