"Smart" Mark Sterling flexed his legal might to inconvenience the Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison).
On the October 7 episode of AEW Rampage, Sterling was at ringside to watch his clients, Tony Nese and Josh Woods, battle the Varsity Blonds. Woods and Nese picked up a relatively dominant victory. After the bell, Sterling came into the ring and stated that the losing duo never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
He then announced that he trademarked the term "varsity" in professional wrestling. Sterling stated that he will sue the Varsity Blonds if they try to use the name moving forward. He also said that, from here on out, Nese and Woods will be called the Varsity Athletes.
Woods has a background as an amateur wrestler in college. During his collegiate career at the University of Central Florida, he won the NCWA National Championship in 2011.

Plus, Arn Anderson was seen backstage, and he was apparently dissatisfied with the Varsity Blonds' loss.
