Matt Hardy discusses his relationship with Shannon Moore as part of the 2003 "Sensei of Mattitude" gimmick.
The latest episode of the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast covers WrestleMania 19, Matt's first WrestleMania as a singles star. That night, Matt successfully defended the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Rey Mysterio, thanks partly to Shannon Moore, his number one MFer (Mattitude Follower).
When discussing his relationship with Shannon, Hardy would say that it was an excellent fit for the gimmick and put extra heat on him as he was seen as someone who treated a childhood friend like crap.
“Shannon was great with me. I mean, he added so much to Matt Hardy, Version One. A lot of people thought like, oh, he’s just kind of this joke guy outside — he was crucial to the things I was doing and the things I was getting over, especially getting me over as a heel and making me seem like a real slimy piece of shit for like taking advantage of someone who was my childhood friend, who grew up around me, I was an older leader to him and now I’m taking advantage of him. So, he played his part perfectly.”
These days, Shannon Moore says he would like to help others who wrestle with substance issues and become a producer in pro wrestling. Learn more here.
